Veronica’s #WritersDiary, Let the Good Times Keep Rolling!

Well why not? I know Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday has passed, but what’s wrong with having just a bit more ‘Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler’ spirit in our lives? It’s a holiday dry spell after Christmas and I miss the comradery and fun the ‘Tis the Season’ brings (and all the lights…#JustSayin). So get out today and enjoy a little March holiday cheer–make someone smile. It’s good for the soul…  🙂

It may be March and just a few weeks away from spring, but I am finally in my cold, snowy climate and loving it! The castle here in Banff Springs is filled with the stone fireplaces and glowing, roaring fires, comfy chairs–a great place to sit back and relax, read, and write! It’s Wednesday, time for #DearDiary:

The story of the transformation of Cherrywood Hall into a highly popular British period drama, ala Downton Abbey, continues. The first season of the television series is completed and there are hints of awards being won in many categories.
Now, Gemma, Sir Kyle and potential award winners relocate 1/3 the way around the world for pre-award shows and celebrations.
I love the way Veronica weaves so many different elements into her stories. She is a star in her dialogues, the settings are marvelous and the action is easily visualized. I am enjoying her costuming and menus more and more. She makes me hungry at times.
The non-stop cross-country train trip was a lot of fun. The perfect setting for dastardly deeds, as used by another female writer in the past. The tension of traveling with an unknown killer was tantalizing!
I loved the story and the writing. “Deadly Receptions” gets 4.9 stars, the score would have been higher except for a handful of spelling errors

#AmWriting Just finished my first ever Prologue in Book 4. I’ve never used one before, so it was exciting to try something new. Deadly Receptions ends with a cliffhanger—so I thought the use of a prologue would be a great way to bring readers up to speed with what happens between the end of book 3 and beginning of book 4, does it work???…Dun Dun Dun.

From the wonderful writers of twitter, Vampires–I mean Nosferatu…what could be better?

Author William Gareth Evans, Dracula, the Devil’s Nosferatu, 5 STARS

You know you’ve read a good story when there’s so much horror filled awesomeness you don’t even know where to begin in a review…Author William Gareth Evans has delivered just that with his 2nd volume in the Glass Darkly Gothic Vampire Series! The vampiric intrigue and horrors continue as General Theodore Spielsdorf continues his hunt for his Nosferatu nemesis Count Sebastian Karnstein and his evil sister, Carmilla. Little does he know his destiny and search is about to change in an epic manor, with horrific and unforeseen results…

Enter Dracula, the Nosferatu ancient who has wreaked havoc on the world for centuries. Changes are coming, and the Count is preparing his evil web of deceit and horrors. We are given a glimpse into his depraved mind; a recap of his dark family legacy and gory deeds bringing untold torturous suffering and annihilation to his subjects; his hypnotic lust that draws even the most resistant of women to him; his disdain for the human mind and spirit; and lastly, what drives his cruel, incessant actions to survive and rule over the Nosferatu and human species by any means necessary.

Author Evans brings in characters from around the world to join General Spielsdorf in his epic battle (I won’t name names so as to not give away spoilers, but I am sure you will have the same ‘No way!‘ reactions that I did…page after page). I was blown away by the intricate weave of parallel storylines masterfully detailed and elegantly related in this horrific tale. There is graphic violence and sexual undertones in this story, so be forewarned. A fabulously well done masterpiece IMO–you will not be disappointed!
